Pakistan batter Fakhar Zaman will miss the ODI leg of the West Indies tour with a hamstring injury he suffered in the second T20I. Fakhar, who was initially ruled out of the final T20I, will undergo rehabilitation under the supervision of PCB’s medical team at the National Cricket Academy.

‌Pakistan batter Fakhar Zaman is set to miss the remainder of the West Indies tour after suffering a hamstring injury during the second T20I in Florida. Fakhar got injured while chasing a ball during the Windies innings and was initially ruled out of the third and final T20I.

However, subsequent medical assessment by the team’s support staff confirmed a mild strain to the batter’s left hamstring, ruling him out of the ODI leg of the tour. Fakhar has already flew back to Pakistan and is set to undergo rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore, under the supervision of Pakistan Cricket Board’s medical team.

The batter got decent starts during the two T20Is against the Windies, scoring 28 and 20, respectively. The Men in Green, however, won the final game by 13 runs to pocket the three-match series 2-1. They will now travel to Trinidad for the three-game ODI leg set to start on August 8, with all the matches to be played at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba. Though Khushdil Shah replaced him in the last T20I, the PCB is yet to name a replacement for the ODIs in the Caribbean.

This is the second time that the top-order batter is getting injured in similar fashion this year. Fakhar was ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy, which Pakistan hosted, after picking up an injury in just the second ball of the tournament.

He pulled up while chasing a shot from Will Young, and though he returned to bat for them, he looked in serious discomfort during his stay at the crease. His injury compounded Pakistan’s woes as they endured a dismal campaign, failing to win a single match and exiting at the group stage of the tournament.
