Tom Moores and Tom Banton

Trent Rockets defeated the Southern Brave in the 15th game of the ongoing Hundred 2025, played at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. Tom Moores (49) and Tom Banton (55) stitched a match-winning partnership of 66 runs to take their side home while chasing a 141-run target.

Trent Rockets’ skipper David Willey won the toss and asked the Southern Brave to bat first. The Rockets faced an early blow as they lost skipper James Vince (7) cheaply at the team score of 14 runs. He was trapped in a ‘bowled’ dismissal by his opposite number, Willey. Following this, Leus du Plooy and Jason Roy stitched a stabilising partnership of 53 runs for the second wicket. After rotating the strike for a few balls, du Plooy smashed some impactful boundaries. He went on to play a brilliant knock of 55 runs off 34 balls, with four fours and four sixes. He was accompanied by the steady knock played by Jason Roy (23 runs off 23 balls). This partnership was ended by Marcus Stoinis, who dismissed Roy on the 56th ball. After his departure, du Plooy and James Coles (23) added a 23-run partnership for the third wicket before the former fell prey to Callum Parkinson on the 69th ball. Furthermore, Coles and Bracewell stitched a much-needed 39-run partnership for the fourth wicket, which involved the blistering knock of 28 runs off just 16 balls, played by Bracewell. Star all-rounder Marcus Stoinis picked two wickets for 18 runs in his 15 balls, alongside a wicket each picked by Willey and Parkinson.

While chasing the target, Trent Rockets lost the veteran batter Joe Root early at the team score of 24 runs in 14 balls. Tom Banton stitched a 27-run partnership for the second wicket with Rehan Ahmed (13). After Rehan’s dismissal at the team score of 51 runs, the Rockets lost two more wickets in quick succession, and their score came to 60/4 after 41 balls. Taking charge after a collapse, Tom Banton stood strongly in the middle, alongside Tom Moores. The Banton-Moores duo made a match-winning and game-changing partnership of 76 runs for the fifth wicket before their wickets fell in quick succession on two consecutive balls. Banton scored 49 runs off 38 balls, with four fours and two sixes, alongside Tom Moores’ 55 runs off 30 balls, with four fours and five sixes. These knocks, followed by Stoinis’ seven runs off just two balls, including a six, helped the Rockets chase the target in 96 balls, scoring 145/6.

Tom Moores won the ‘Player of the Match’ award for his match-winning knock of 55 runs off 30 balls, hitting four fours and five sixes and stitching a decisive partnership of 76 runs with Tom Banton.
