WATCH, Women’s Hundred । Deandra Dottin executes unbelievable catch at extra cover to dismiss Bess Heath in MO-W vs NS-W game

There’s a famous saying in cricket that ‘catches win matches,’ and this saying has always been relevant in the game of cricket. Similarly, it was the catching brilliance of Deandra Dottin that won the game for Manchester Originals Women against Northern Superchargers Women by a narrow margin.
Batting first, Manchester Originals Women faced the early blows as they lost two wickets at the score of just 22 runs in 24 balls. Later, Amelia Kerr’s 21-run knock, followed by Deandra Dottin’s unbeaten half-century (51 runs off just 26 balls, with six fours and three sixes), helped the Originals Women post 117/5 in the allotted 100 balls. Kate Cross bowled brilliantly for the Superchargers Women as she scalped two wickets, conceding just 21 runs off her 20 balls, including seven dot balls. Besides her, Lucy Higham, Annabel Sutherland, and Nicola Carey bagged a wicket each. While chasing the target, NS-W lost Devina Perrin (10) cheaply at the score of just 11 runs in 14 balls. Her departure was followed by a brilliant 64-run partnership for the second wicket between Alice Davidson (29) and Phoebe Litchfield (31).
But the dismissals of Alice and Litchfield left the Superchargers Women in trouble, and they mostly relied on the wicketkeeper-batter Bess Heath. But their hopes were shattered when Heath played a reverse-swat over the off-side ring off a fuller delivery on middle and leg, bowled by Sophie Ecclestone. The shot was initially going in the right direction before Deandra Dottin entered the scene, flying through the air and completing an unbelievable catch to dismiss Heath. It ended the remaining hopes of the Superchargers Women to chase the target, and they were eventually restricted to a score of 112/7 in the entire 100 balls. The joint brilliant efforts from the bowlers helped the Superchargers to win this game, as Kathryn Bryce, Sophie Ecclestone, and Amelia Kerr scalped two wickets each, alongside a wicket picked by Lauren Filer.
Apart from his fielding brilliance, Deandra Dottin’s batting brilliance in the first innings earned her the ‘Player of the Match’ award, as her efforts sealed the game for Superchargers Women in this thrilling encounter.
