LSG vs RCB | Twitter and Virat Kohli unimpressed as stand-in skipper Jitesh Sharma jumps the guns with horrendous review

Timers for the Decision Review System often hurry captains to make a call without consulting the close-in fielders. Jitesh Sharma made a blunder in only the fourth ball of the innings as he rushed to the bowler to take a review without consulting Virat Kohli who felt there was an inside edge.

‌In a must-win game for Royal Challengers Bengaluru to finish in the top two of the Indian Premier League 2025 points table, the visitors started against Lucknow Super Giants with stand-in skipper Jitesh Sharma making a blunder.

Opting to bowl at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, the wicketkeeper was in the thick of the action as early as the fourth ball of the first over bowled by pacer Nuwan Thushara. The Sri Lankan pacer, who was replacing South African Lungi Ngidi, who departed for national duty, bowled a dipping yorker at middle and leg stump line to the in-form Mitchell Marsh.

The bowler, who went for the appeal along with the close-in fielders, straight away persuaded Jitesh who was already running in with the timer in mind. And with the bowler sounding confident, the skipper straight away signalled to the umpire.

But Kohli, who was watching all the proceedings unfold from the slip cordon was clearly not impressed as he felt there was an inside edge. With the replays showing a thick inside edge of Marsh’s bat, Jitesh understood the gravity of his mistake as Kohli was vindicated in his reaction.

Twitter was clearly not impressed with Jitesh’s blunder, that too in a crucial game for RCB.
