Pachuca Deny Neymar Jr. Transfer Links Ahead of Club World Cup

Just like the buildup to a major international tournament, the new-look FIFA Club World Cup 2025 is sparking big transfer rumours—none bigger than Neymar Jr. being linked with Liga MX side Pachuca. According to Brazilian outlet RTI Esporte, the Mexican club informally approached Neymar’s father and agent to explore a potential short-term deal for the tournament.

Reports suggested Neymar was seeking a $5 million (€4.3 million) salary, which would make him the highest-paid player in Liga MX history for a temporary stint. However, Pachuca president Armando Martínez quickly dismissed the speculation, telling ESPN there was no interest or contact from the club's side. He acknowledged Neymar’s talent but stressed that Pachuca operates on a very different level financially and competitively. Neymar, currently with Santos, has his contract expiring at the end of the month and is believed to be eyeing a return to Europe as he prepares for the 2026 World Cup.
