Harry Kane, after scoring 26 goals in Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga-winning season, named John Terry as the toughest defender he’s ever faced, ahead of Van Dijk and Ramos. In a head-to-head bracket of eight elite defenders, Kane chose Terry over Ramos in the final, praising the Chelsea legend's intelligence despite facing him only four times.

When the 2024–25 Bundesliga season concluded, Harry Kane finally ended his long wait for silverware, netting 26 goals to help Bayern Munich secure the league title. Despite consistently ranking among the world’s best strikers, his career had been overshadowed by a lack of trophies until now. In an interview following the title win, Kane was asked by *Goal* to identify his toughest opponent in a knockout-style format featuring eight elite defenders.

The English striker chose Chelsea legend John Terry as the most difficult defender he’s ever faced—above the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Sergio Ramos. Interestingly, Kane only played against Terry four times, during the defender’s final years. Yet, he praised Terry’s intelligence and positioning, previously highlighting these attributes in 2023 as reasons for his choice.

Surprisingly, Kane ranked Ramos higher than Van Dijk, despite limited direct clashes with the Spaniard. In contrast, Kane had multiple encounters with Van Dijk in Premier League battles between 2015 and 2023. Since breaking onto the scene a decade ago with Tottenham under Mauricio Pochettino, Kane has also achieved individual milestones including the 2018 World Cup Golden Boot, the European Golden Shoe, and becoming Spurs' all-time top scorer.
