After the celebration of National Sports Day on August 29, the 12th season of the Pro Kabaddi League was launched with great fanfare in the presence of some of India’s greatest sporting icons. The opening ceremony brought together Padma Bhushan awardee and badminton legend Pullela Gopichand, former Indian hockey captain Dhanraj Pillay, kabaddi superstar Pardeep Narwal, and Rajasthan Royals’ rising talent Vaibhav Suryavanshi. United for the National Anthem, they paid tribute to India’s sporting legacy while emphasizing the cultural significance of kabaddi.
The league commenced with an exciting clash between Telugu Titans and Tamil Thalaivas. League Commissioner Anupam Goswami highlighted the importance of starting Season 12 on this day, symbolizing the journey of Indian sport and kabaddi’s growing global presence. This edition introduces key reforms such as mandatory results for every match and a new play-in phase, designed to enhance competitiveness.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi also stressed the role of sports in unity and personal growth, echoing the spirit of the occasion.
