England Premier League Transfer Window Reaches Fever Pitch

After the chaos of this summer’s transfer window, the Premier League is heading into its final hours with record-breaking activity and unresolved sagas still in play. Spending has already reached £2.73bn, with a net outlay of more than £1.2bn, and could surpass £3bn before the deadline. Eight clubs have smashed their transfer records, while six have logged record sales. Liverpool (£290m), Chelsea (£281m) and Arsenal (£255m) lead the way in spending, with Arsenal holding the largest net spend at £248m.

The biggest storyline remains Alexander Isak’s push to leave Newcastle for Liverpool. The Swede, who helped Newcastle win their first domestic trophy in 70 years, has refused to play and could move if Liverpool meet the £150m price. Newcastle are preparing by signing Stuttgart’s Nick Woltemade and still pursuing another striker, with Jorgen Strand Larsen and Yoane Wissa as prime targets.
